Entry List, Format Revealed for Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition

Today the PRI Hoosier 500 revealed the entry list and format for the Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition, to be held as part of Simperior Shakedown Saturday on December 13 – live on P1 Broadcasting’s YouTube channel.

The Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition at the Hoosier 500 was contested for the first time in 2019, featuring short green-flag runs in a fixed setup, reduced fuel tank capacity Dallara IR-18 IndyCar in a heat race format. Emphasis is placed on drivers making clean and quick pit stops to advance their track position – while doing a little racing in between.

ENTRY LIST: Drivers pre-registered for the Pit Stop Competition

After being held in 2019 and 2020 – won by Brendan Lichtenberg and Jason Brophy, respectively – the support event went dark and hasn’t returned since. That changes this weekend, and the Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition will put a bow on a fun Saturday before the seriousness of Sunday’s race day.

In total, there are 50 drivers on the entry list for Saturday’s Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition, including both drivers who qualified for Sunday’s PRI Hoosier 500, as well as others who will still be a part of race weekend without qualifying for the 500-mile main event.

With 50 drivers entered – but transparently, an expectation that a handful won’t participate come event day – the format will be set up as follows: There will be three (3) Heats with 16 drivers each; each heat lasts 12 laps without cautions, and four (4) drivers in each heat will advance to the main event. The main is a 20-lap feature without cautions.

If less drivers show up, iRacing will automatically adjust the heats to compensate. In the past, there were only enough drivers for the initial heat (less than 16) and everyone advanced to the final. In that case, the heat race set the starting lineup for the main event.
