PRI Hoosier 500 Adds Additional Race week Practice Session

Race officials for the PRI Hoosier 500 have added an additional practice session to the event’s schedule in light of expected updates to the car on iRacing, plus an extension to an existing session on the weekend.
There will be a new practice session available for qualified cars and the three race alternates to participate in on Thursday, December 11. The session will last from 7:15 AM to 9:15 PM Eastern and feature time of day and weather conditions similar to what will be expected for race weekend.
Additionally, final practice scheduled to start at 12:30 PM Eastern on Saturday, December 13 has been extended by a half an hour. Originally scheduled to end at 1:30 PM, the practice session will close now at 2:00 PM – leading into the Anderson Speedway Veterans 100 and Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition later in the day on Simperior Shakedown Saturday.
The adjustments to the race week schedule come with the anticipated debut of INDYCAR’s hybrid system on iRacing’s model of the Dallara IR-18 on Tuesday. The addition of the hybrid system has the potential to dramatically alter race setups and strategy, and thus, the PRI Hoosier 500 made the decision to give the teams more track time this week.
“Given the timing of this release, we felt it was necessary to offer up additional opportunities to practice with other cars,” said Tanner Watkins, president of the PRI Hoosier 500. “While it is unprecedented for us to add additional sessions, we feel this is necessary for the competitive balance of the race on Sunday.”
Race day for the 2025 PRI Hoosier 500 is Sunday, December 14. Coverage of the race begins at 11:00 AM on the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Facebook and YouTube pages, including full pre-race ceremonies and hype for the fifth edition of the World’s Greatest Sim Race.
