Shakedown Saturday Practice in the Books for the PRI Hoosier 500

Simperior Shakedown Saturday offered one final look at Sunday’s stars before the 2025 PRI Hoosier 500 — and with a scorching track surface topping 132 degrees, the warmest conditions of the month, teams approached the 90-minute session with caution.
The heat, far above the expected ~120°F track temperature for race day, made it a less representative shakedown than usual and kept several drivers from turning laps altogether. But for those who did venture out, the session delivered meaningful data and one more shakeup atop the speed chart.
RESULTS: PRI Hoosier 500 Final Practice Results
Adam Blocker closed out the final practice as the fastest driver of the afternoon, clocking a 40.740-second lap at 220.913 mph — a solid lap in brutal conditions. Blaise Andrich followed closely in second, with Ryan Campbell, pole sitter Robert Maleczka III, and Chad Simpson rounding out the top five as teams focused less on ultimate speed and more on stability and tire behavior in the elevated temperatures.
Saturday’s 1,178 laps pushed the December total past 10,000 laps across all sessions. Hugo Olsson’s blistering 38.629-second lap from Fast Friday remains the quickest of the month, with Blocker, Alexander Russell, Seb Alexander, and Ty Quila also among the most consistently strong performers throughout December.
Given the excessive track temperature, not every driver chose to run in the final session. The priority was simple: validate hybrid installation changes, confirm fuel numbers and balance shifts, and ensure their car would be ready for 500 miles.

Saturday also marked the first on-track activity of a full slate of pre-race programming at Indianapolis. Following the morning shakedown, attention shifted to two showcase events: the Anderson Speedway Veterans 100 at 2:00 PM Eastern and the Visitor Watch Co. Pit Stop Competition at 3:00 PM Eastern. Both serve as warm-up acts ahead of Sunday’s main event.
The 2025 PRI Hoosier 500 takes the green flag tomorrow, Sunday, December 14, with live pre-race coverage beginning at 11:00 AM Eastern on the Performance Racing Industry Facebook and YouTube channels. The broadcast will feature full pre-race ceremonies, driver introductions, and the largest grid ever assembled for the event in iRacing competition.
