PRI Hoosier 500 Open Test Scheduled for October 12

INDIANAPOLIS – In preparation for December’s fifth running of the PRI Hoosier 500, an open test for all interested drivers has been scheduled for Sunday, October 12 at the virtual Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This test is open for both drivers who have registered already for the PRI Hoosier 500, as well as those who have not yet registered.

Competitors will have their first crack at the track under Open-Wheels Motorsports Sanctioning conditions this weekend, including weather closely resembling the forecast expected for practice and qualifications week (December 1-7). The session will be hosted in the general iRacing “Hosted Races” section.

Two hours of on-track activity have been planned, running from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Eastern (U.S.). The full test session will be streamed live, with P1 Broadcasting taking the first hour and the Hoosier 500 YouTube covering hour two.

In years’ past, the open test has served as a nice preview into the month of competition ahead. PRI Hoosier 500 officials will use the session to capture content for promotion of the 2025 race, and drivers who participate can request screenshots of their car for use on their own social media by contacting Tanner Watkins at tanner@thehoosier500.com.

Since the October 1 registration period opened, a robust entry list of drivers has already submitted their bid to compete at the 2025 PRI Hoosier 500. This includes drivers from more than 10 countries worldwide, former Hoosier 500 and iRacing Indy 500 race winners, and stars from the INDYCAR Thrustmaster iRacing Pro Series.

For those who have yet to present an entry, the registration period is open through November 3, and there is no fee to enter. Competitors must have a C4.0 oval safety rating on iRacing for their entry to be accepted, and be in good standing with iRacing and Open-Wheels Motorsports Sanctioning.

Competitors interested in submitting an entry can do so at this link.
